Proof Positive Product Success
Better to be lucky than really good is how the wildly popular, globally pervasive X-Bee module came into the world. As the 4th wireless module created at MaxStream, our founder created X-Bee to address the emerging Zigbee standard connectivity wave. The ease of use and low cost secured its place in history as one of the world’s most important communication devices. Ask our founder about that little antenna nub if you get a chance. It is quite the story.
It was just a small jump from wireless connection modules to making the smart connection into a simple data connection – spawning the wireless sensor. Our founder launched Monnit Corporation in 2010 and shortly thereafter released the ALTA Wireless Sensor line—which has earned over 60 industry awards and is found at over 73,000 businesses worldwide. With more to come, Monnit’s ALTA line is just finding its stride. Look for more innovation in 2025!
It is better to be lucky and have really deep pockets, which would be the appropriate way to describe the creation of Lineo. As a spin-off of the first full-featured Linux distribution, venture capital-backed Lineo was the first real-time, multi-threaded embedded operating system. With the initial groundswell, high acceptance rate, and overall execution to filing an S1 Registrations to go public, Lineo was a high-thrills roller coaster ride until its acquisition.
